What's the gpedit, gpedit.msc it's one file in windows where put in %SYSTEM32%, whit this file you can customized your windows XP.
For open the console you can click run in startup menu and type "gpedit.msc" (without double quote mark) and you will find the console
What can we do with this console, I will explain this just a few think and you can explore it by yourself. You can choose item from tree and can change from option that windows give or you can enter value by yourself. In every item you will find the detail description and what effect will raise when you change the value.
1. Internet Explorer [ computer configuration > administrative templates > windows components > internet explorer ]
- On this area we can configure our Internet Explorer from popup, splash screen, enable disable addon and any other change configuration.
- Change security code and etc.
- check on this tree [computer configuration > administrative templates > system >turn off autoplay]
- You can disable or enable what media that you will enable or disable the auto play function
- computer configuration > administrative templates > system > logon > always use classic logon
- In this place you can customize many Internet Explorer more deep, from browser interface until toolbar customizations.
- You can change favorite and link and important url.
- In this area you will find many other stuff for customizing your XP, from how to site your folder option, restrict your windows search feature.
- How to customizing your desktop show or remove any component like your recycle bin, my computer and etc.
- You can customizing your system area like ctrl + Alt + Del and how to set your group policy.
I hope this can help you and happy explorer the gpedit.msc
